Turkey Tail Mushroom, Trametes versicolor, Yun Zhi
- My most successful method is to pack the mix into a sealed, filter-patch bag; let them colonize and grow a thick stipe layer, in the high CO2 environment of the bag, for about 3 months; then strip off the bag from the top 1/4 to 1/3 of the sawdust block; and let the mushrooms grow. This method allows you to harvest a thick layer of fruit-bodies off the surface of the sawdust block. Go to my website at OrganicTurkeyTailFarm.us for more information on growing or buying these mushrooms.
- I've had some success with colonizing them in the poly-tubes and then stripping the bag and standing them upright (with the base slightly buried) in the woods. This works for harvesting fruit-bodies only. It is quick to grow, but the harvesting is slow.
